Set up WriteAlt for HubSpot

Generate alt text for images used in HubSpot website pages and blog posts, then save the descriptions back to that CMS content. This guide covers installation, account connection, and everyday use.

Before you start

Install and connect

  1. Install WriteAlt - AI Alt Text & SEO from its HubSpot Marketplace listing and approve access to CMS content.
  2. Open WriteAlt from the HubSpot app menu. If it shows Connect HubSpot, select it and complete the authorization.
  3. Open the app's Settings page. Paste your WriteAlt API key and save it. You can also choose a language, writing style, and optional keywords.
  4. Return to the WriteAlt app home and select Refresh content.

Keep your API key in the app's Settings page. Do not put it in a page, blog post, or image URL.

Generate and save alt text

  1. Review the website page and blog post images found in the app home.
  2. Use Missing alt text to focus on images without descriptions, or search for a page, post, or image.
  3. Select Generate alt text for one image. To process several, check them and select Generate selected. Selected images are processed one at a time; keep the app open until the batch finishes.
  4. Review the generated text in the image list. Open the corresponding page or blog post to verify the saved alt text in HubSpot.

Generating again for an image that already has alt text can replace its existing description. Review your selection before running a batch.

What this integration covers

WriteAlt scans supported images in HubSpot website page and blog post content, including featured images and image references in supported content fields. It updates alt text in the CMS content record. It does not scan the entire HubSpot File Manager, change File Manager metadata, delete files, or add a button inside HubSpot's native page editor.
