Terms of Service
1. Introduction
Welcome to WriteAlt. By accessing or using our alt-text generation and image-optimization service (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Account and Eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
You may use the Service only for lawful personal or business purposes and in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws.
3. Use of the Service
WriteAlt allows users to generate AI-assisted alt-text suggestions, optimize images, connect supported third-party platforms, and save results to connected services when authorized by the user.
You are responsible for reviewing generated descriptions before publishing them and deciding whether an image requires descriptive alt text, empty alt text, or another accessibility treatment.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of images, text, prompts, keywords, metadata, and other content submitted to WriteAlt (“User Content”).
You grant WriteAlt a limited, non-exclusive license to access, process, analyze, transmit, and temporarily store User Content only as necessary to provide the features you request.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions required to upload and process User Content.
5. Image Processing and Third-Party Services
When you request alt-text generation, the selected image and relevant request information may be transmitted securely to a third-party AI processing provider.
During ordinary processing, WriteAlt does not permanently store image files on its own servers. The third-party AI processing environment may temporarily retain image data for up to 60 minutes for processing, security, and technical reliability. Temporary processing data is then automatically deleted according to the provider’s retention controls.
When you request image optimization, the selected image may be temporarily sent to the WriteAlt backend, processed, and returned as an optimized file. Image optimization does not require the image to be sent to the AI provider unless the feature specifically states otherwise.
If you explicitly choose an import or storage feature, the selected image may be stored on the WriteAlt platform until you remove it or request deletion.
WriteAlt does not use submitted images, Webflow content, Google Drive content, or generated descriptions to train general-purpose AI models.
6. AI-Generated Output and Accessibility
WriteAlt uses advanced AI models to analyze image content and generate context-aware alt-text suggestions. Results may vary depending on the image, so users should review each description before publishing.
The correct treatment of an image depends on its purpose and surrounding content. Informative, functional, decorative, and complex images may require different accessibility treatments.
WriteAlt is designed to support accessible content and WCAG 2.2 best practices. However, alt text alone does not make an entire website or page compliant with WCAG 2.2. Website owners remain responsible for reviewing their content and meeting all applicable accessibility requirements.
If a generated description is materially incorrect or unusable for its intended image, contact [email protected]. After reviewing the request, WriteAlt may refund the credits used or provide replacement credits in accordance with its refund policy.
7. Credits, Subscriptions, and Payments
Some Service features require credits, a subscription, or another paid plan.
For alt-text generation and regeneration, one image processed in one language uses one credit. Requests involving multiple languages use one credit per image per language.
New accounts receive 25 free trial credits. After those credits are used, an active subscription or additional credits are required for further generation and regeneration.
Account and language-information requests do not consume generation credits.
Image optimization does not consume WriteAlt generation credits. Any file-size or plan limits are shown before processing.
Unused credits, subscriptions, and purchases are subject to the refund terms displayed on the applicable pricing or checkout page.
8. Webflow and Other Integrations
When you connect Webflow or another supported platform, you authorize WriteAlt to access only the data and permissions required for the features you select.
For Webflow, WriteAlt may access selected sites, CMS collections, CMS items, image fields, asset metadata, image URLs, existing alt text, and authorized-user information.
WriteAlt may save generated alt text to the selected Webflow image field and update the selected asset when you request image optimization.
If Webflow does not provide a usable image URL, the Designer Extension may capture a rendered snapshot of the selected Image element and send that snapshot to the WriteAlt backend for processing.
WriteAlt does not publish a Webflow site automatically. You remain responsible for reviewing changes and using Webflow’s normal save and publish controls.
You may disconnect an integration at any time. Disconnecting stops future requests for that connection but does not remove content already saved in Webflow, Google Drive, or another connected platform.
9. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, or abusive purposes.
Upload content that infringes another person’s intellectual-property or privacy rights.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or another user’s account.
Interfere with or disrupt the Service.
Circumvent usage limits, credit controls, or security features.
Use generated content to misrepresent accessibility compliance.
10. Intellectual Property
WriteAlt and its software, branding, interfaces, documentation, and technology are owned by WriteAlt or its licensors.
You retain ownership of your User Content and generated descriptions saved to your account or connected platforms, subject to the licenses necessary to provide the Service.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of your content to WriteAlt.
11. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by the WriteAlt Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains how WriteAlt handles account information, Webflow data, Google Drive data, images, generated descriptions, API credentials, temporary AI processing, retention, and deletion.
12. Service Availability
We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue part of the Service when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance, or product improvements.
We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
13. Disclaimers
The Service and AI-generated output are provided based on the information and files submitted by the user. AI results may contain errors, omissions, or unsuitable wording.
WriteAlt does not replace human accessibility review, professional accessibility auditing, legal advice, or compliance advice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WriteAlt disclaims warranties that are not expressly stated in these Terms.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WriteAlt is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses resulting from reliance on AI-generated content, service interruption, or third-party platform changes.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, create security risks, or fail to pay applicable charges.
Termination does not remove content already saved to Webflow, Google Drive, or another connected platform.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when the Service, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated Terms will be published on this page with a new update date.
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms become effective means that you accept the revised Terms.

Privacy Policy
WriteAlt respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, transfer, retain, and protect information when you use WriteAlt, including our Webflow integration, Google Drive features, desktop applications, browser extensions, and API services.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We may collect your email address, account details, WriteAlt API settings, text prompts, SEO keywords, generated descriptions, and images that you explicitly submit or import.
Webflow Information
When you connect Webflow, we may process the authorized Webflow user identifier, Webflow OAuth access and refresh tokens, selected site and collection IDs, CMS item IDs, image-field metadata, image URLs, asset metadata, existing alt text, and connection settings required to operate the integration.
The Webflow Designer Extension may receive a short-lived Designer identity token. We use it only to associate the selected Webflow site with the correct encrypted settings record. We do not display, sell, or use this identity information for advertising.
Google Drive Information
When you connect Google Drive, we may process your Google account email, profile information, file names, file IDs, thumbnails, folder information, file metadata, and image files that you explicitly select.
Automatically Collected Information
We may collect limited device, browser, IP, security, diagnostic, and usage information needed to operate the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and protect accounts.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
Authenticate and maintain your account.
Connect to Webflow or Google Drive at your request.
Load selected images and metadata.
Generate or regenerate alt-text suggestions.
Optimize selected images when requested.
Save generated descriptions or explicitly imported images according to your instructions.
Display credits, processing status, and results.
Provide support, security, and service communications.
We do not sell user data or use connected-service data for advertising.
3. AI and Image Processing
When you request alt-text generation, the selected image and relevant prompt information may be sent securely through the WriteAlt backend to the configured third-party AI processing provider. The provider processes the image only to return the requested result and does not receive permission to use the data for unrelated advertising or model training.
The image is processed temporarily in the provider’s environment and may remain there for up to 60 minutes for request handling. It is then automatically deleted according to the provider’s retention controls.
For Webflow image optimization, the selected asset is temporarily fetched by the WriteAlt backend, compressed or converted to WebP, and returned to Webflow. Optimization is not an AI generation request and does not consume WriteAlt generation credits.
WriteAlt does not use submitted images, Google Drive data, Webflow content, or generated descriptions to train general-purpose AI models.
4. Webflow Integration
WriteAlt uses Webflow information only to list the user’s selected content, generate alt text, save approved descriptions to selected Webflow image fields, optimize requested images, and display the user’s WriteAlt credit balance.
If Webflow provides a usable image URL, the WriteAlt backend fetches the selected image for the requested operation. If Webflow does not provide a usable image URL, the Designer Extension may send a rendered snapshot of the selected Image element to the WriteAlt backend for processing.
The generated description is returned to WriteAlt and saved to the selected Webflow image only when the user starts or confirms the requested action.
For optimization, the selected Webflow asset is replaced only after the user requests and confirms the action. WriteAlt does not create duplicate CMS items or duplicate assets as part of this operation.
Webflow OAuth access and refresh tokens, together with the user’s WriteAlt API key, are stored only on the WriteAlt server in encrypted storage. They are never stored in browser local storage or session storage. The Designer Extension stores only non-sensitive preferences such as language, writing style, and keywords.
When the user disconnects Webflow, WriteAlt attempts to revoke the Webflow authorization and deletes the stored OAuth tokens, encrypted API key, selected-site settings, and connection records.
Disconnecting does not delete content, assets, or alt text already saved in Webflow.
5. Google Drive and Google User Data
This section applies when you sign in with Google or connect Google Drive.
WriteAlt may access your Google email address and profile information for authentication. If you connect Google Drive, WriteAlt may access file metadata and image files that you explicitly select.
Google data is used only to authenticate your account, display selected files, and provide the requested alt-text or image-processing features.
Google Drive images are not permanently stored on WriteAlt servers during ordinary processing. Selected images may be transmitted to the temporary AI processing provider and may remain there for up to 60 minutes before automatic deletion.
If you explicitly choose to import or store an image in WriteAlt, that image may remain on the WriteAlt platform until you remove it or request account deletion.
WriteAlt does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, use it for unrelated analytics, or use it to train general-purpose AI models.
WriteAlt does not transfer Google user data to third parties except when necessary to provide the requested image-processing feature through the temporary AI provider.
Google account and profile information is retained while your WriteAlt account remains active.
Google OAuth connection data is retained while the connection is active or as required for security and legal purposes.
Ordinary Google Drive image processing is temporary, up to 60 minutes in the AI provider’s environment.
Explicitly imported images are retained until you remove them or request deletion.
You can disconnect Google Drive from WriteAlt settings, revoke access through your Google Account permissions, remove imported images, or request deletion of your WriteAlt account.
WriteAlt’s use of Google user data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.
6. Data Sharing and Recipients
We may share limited information with:
Hosting and infrastructure providers needed to operate WriteAlt.
Webflow APIs when you connect Webflow or request Webflow changes.
The WriteAlt API when you request generation, account, language, or processing services.
The temporary AI processing provider when you request alt-text generation or another AI image feature.
Security and support providers needed to operate WriteAlt.
Legal authorities when required by law.
We do not sell personal data or share connected-service content for advertising.
7. Data Retention
Source images and rendered snapshots used for ordinary AI or image processing are temporary and may remain in the processing provider’s environment for up to 60 minutes before automatic deletion.
WriteAlt does not maintain a permanent source-image library during ordinary processing.
Webflow OAuth tokens, the WriteAlt API key, and Webflow connection settings are retained while the connection is active. They are deleted when the user disconnects Webflow, revokes access where supported, or requests account deletion, subject to security and legal requirements.
Generated descriptions, account settings, usage records, and generation history are retained while the WriteAlt account remains active and are removed when the user requests account deletion, except where retention is required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or billing purposes.
Explicitly imported images remain on the WriteAlt platform until the user removes them or requests deletion.
8. Security
We use HTTPS, encrypted server-side credential storage, access controls, and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information.
API keys and Webflow OAuth tokens are not stored in browser local storage, session storage, or plaintext logs.
No online service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights and Deletion Requests
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your personal data.
You may request deletion of your WriteAlt account and eligible stored WriteAlt data by contacting [email protected].
Deletion removes eligible account information, settings, connection records, and explicitly imported content.
It does not remove CMS content, alt text, or assets already saved in Webflow or Google Drive.
10. Cookies
WriteAlt may use essential cookies or similar technologies for authentication, security, and service operation.
Optional analytics, if used, must be disclosed separately and are not used to inspect connected Google Drive or Webflow content for advertising.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services or data practices change.
The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
